On
behalf of the committee I would like to welcome you
all to the 2008 Penrith show. It was a great disappointment
to everyone when the decision was made to cancel last
years show due to the waterlogged field.
I'm sure you will enjoy this years show which will be better than ever with some of the best livestock in the country on parade and more attractions for all the family. Penrith show is not just an agricultural show but also a social gathering with friends and family meeting up and old friendships rekindled. The show is a shop window for all our farming and equine friends alike, bringing their stock for judging and display.
After photographing Penrith show for the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald newspaper for last thirty years it is a great privilege and honour for me to be President of the show this year. Working with the committee and attending all the show meetings has given me great insight into the hard work and dedication put into organising Penrith show. People like myself just turn up and photograph the event, not taking into consideration that its taken a whole year to organise, I salute you all.
And finally I wish the Chairman for the last two years, John Page, committee members and all their helpers for a very successful show and thank everyone out there who supports the show every year. Please have a great day and enjoy one of Cumbria’s greatest agricultural shows put on for you by our farming friends.
My sincere thanks to you all.
Frederick Cameron Wilson
President
