I am extremely honoured to be asked to be the Show President for 2009. Having been involved with Penrith Show in various roles over 30 years I am aware of the dedication of committee members and volunteers who join together each year to put on this special day for the agricultural community as well as our many supporters from around Eden. The show is a shop window for all that is good in the local area and further afield and I thank our exhibitors for all the hard work put in each year to bring together the best in this part of the county for the benefit of all who attend the event.
A great deal of planning is put into preparing the content of the Show each year and if last year was an example of the committee’s efforts and deliberations they do a superb job. I know from my involvement with the committees that we have an equally attractive and entertaining show again this year.
I welcome you all to our 2009 show and I look forward with enthusiasm to having the opportunity of meeting old friends and new as I go about my duties. Have a great day and thank you for giving the Show and the team your support.

Following the disappointment of having to cancel the show in 2007 due to dreadful weather conditions the society wanted the 2008 show to go with a real bang!!
And this it certainly did!!!
With the introduction of a mascot ‘Farmer Brougham’ (used to encourage people to return to the show) and a full programme of entertainment ranging from an trials bike display team to a pipe band, attendance far exceeded the committees expectations.
The weather also proved to be on our side with one of the best Saturdays through the summer. Lets face it there weren't many! All in all a great day out for all and one which the society feels it must match or hopefully exceed in 2009.
With this in mind the society is putting in place another full programme of entertainment and widening the scope of our Farmer Brougham mascot. There will be something for everyone and as in previous years there will be :
And of course there will be the Grand Parade, which would rival that of any top county agricultural show. So watch this space!
In the main ring we have a full timetable of entertainment including:
So, something for everyone!!
In addition we also have:
And of course there is the Grand Parade, which would rival that of any top county agricultural show.
